"Death at the Grand" is the sixth episode of Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries' third season and the 32nd episode overall.

Synopsis[]

A concierge is stabbed and pushed to his death from the rooftop of the Grand Hotel, an establishment that was once a part of Melbourne high society but has now fallen on hard times. Jack calls Phryne in on the case, which looks like a robbery gone wrong until a strange connection to the Fisher household emerges.[1]

Plot[]

Cold Open[]

It is night time at the Grand Hotel. Frank McNabb runs onto the roof. He pulls a bundle of money from a satchel and tosses it down a laundry chute. In the basement, Enid finds the money. Back on the roof, Eugene walks slowly toward McNabb, brandishing a knife. He demands "the money" then pushes McNabb off the roof.

Quotes[]

Phryne: I'm sorry, Jack. I don't think I can bring myself to assist you with this case after all.

Phryne: I don't believe you.
Henry: shouting Well things must be dire when a daughter can't believe her own father!
Phryne: shouting back Things are dire!

Notes[]

Unusually for this show, the cold open of this episode clearly shows the murderer's face.
